Idol Drama - Green Forest (Lu Kuang Sen Lin / 綠光森林)

Story of Drama -
Sophie (Fei Su) grew up in a musical family. She is a happy, ambitious, and naive girl.

Shan Lo grew up in Sophie’s family. Her dad was the driver of the Sus. Her mom left home when she was a little child, and she is never gotten any messages about her mom since then. Shan Lo is envious of Sophie and hopes she can become the kind of Sophie.

Shan Lo’s dad died of drinking and driving and her mom left home, so Sophie’s parents adopted her and named her Susan (Shan Su), becoming Sophie’s older sister. Growing up in a driver family, Susan feels shamed of her lower social status, so she hopes to become someone like Sophie. She believes that she will be happy and blessed once she becomes Sophie. With this kind of thinking, Susan turns to like having everything which Sophie has. Sophie has known the thought which Susan has since she was little, but she always views Susan as her biological sister and not to tell others that Susan is an adopted child, which her mom told her to do. Besides, Sophie also tells herself not to keep this kind of thing in mind. She thinks that the reason Susan does this way is she grew up in a poor family.

Susan, Sophie, and Fang Yuan, who grew up with Susan and Sophie, went to Green Forest Primary School, a school without any walls. However, because of moving, they left that primary school and went to Spencer Music School. Although Sophie loves freedom, she still needed to go to this school with high walls. Spencer School provides a strict education. One of its rules is that students will be whipped on their palms if they forget to bring pieces of music notes. One day, young William of the founder of the school, old William, came over for auditing a class from Austria. Sophie didn’t know who he is and lent him her notes because she thought he didn’t bring them. She was punished. William couldn’t see Sophie get punished for him, so he grabbed Sophie’s hand and ran out of the classroom together. They skipped the class and got lost in the Green Forest. Surprisingly, they saw a green light, of which they had heard. In the green light was there an old lady. The old lady told William that he would meet a girl he loved a lot after growing up. He had to believe in that girl, otherwise that girl would lose everything for him, including her own life. The old lady also told William and Sophie that time in a love world was still. They apparently understood this saying. This saying stayed in their hearts. William took out the family emblem of the Spencers to Sophie. He told her that he would protect her forever. This was the commitment he gave Sophie. Sophie put this commitment in her mind. When Sophie asked William his name, he told her, “William.” However, when William asked Sophie her name, she was naughtily told him that she was the princess of Prince William. She didn’t tell William her name.

On the day of William’s going back to Austria, he wanted to go back to Spencer School and say goodbye to that cute girl. On the same day, Fang Yuan was going abroad learning music. Sophie was in a rush finding Fang Yuan and missed a chance to see William again. William was looking for Sophie on campus and ran into Susan at a hallway. Susan saw William’s unique disposition. She thought of her dream which is to get rid of her lower status and become an upper class. While thinking f this, she lied to William that the girl he was looking for was… Susan. William believed in it. He though the name of the girl was Susan.

After growing up, Susan became the art director of Spencer School. Sophie came back from the Austrian branch of Spencer School and wanted to be a teacher of Green Forest Primary School. Fang Yuan became a world-known violinist “Owen.” He was invited by Spencer School to attend a concert held to greet their new executive. After the death of old William, William became the new executive. In order to take over Spencer School and look for the girl “Susan,” William decided to go back to Taiwan.

William, Sophie, Susan, and Owen met each other at Owen’s concert. Owen met Sophie, who he had fallen in love with since he was a child and wanted to protect. William was happy to find the girl, “Susan.” He could make his commitment come true. Sophie didn’t know that Owen is Fang Yuan, with who she fell in love, and that Susan’s boyfriend, William, was the boy who made a commitment to her. Susan didn’t dare to admit to her lie and became William’s “Susan.” Therefore, although these four people met each other again, the relationships between them were different from what they had expected.

As the new executive, William was facing a new decision made by the board of the investors of the Spencer Institute, which was closing Green Forest primary school. Green Forest Primary School belonged to the Spencer Institute. He decided to save Green Forest Primary School for the sake of the educational spirit of the principal of Green Forest Primary School and the memory about his childhood. Brian, one conservative investor of the Spencer Institute, rejected his idea and had two commitments with him. First, if Green Forest Primary School couldn’t win a music competition, they would close the nursery in the Green Forest town. Second, either of them would need to give up their position when Spencer School, which Brian represented for, or Green Forest Primary School, which William represented for, lost the competition. A gambling developed on Spencer School and Green Forest Primary School.

Sophie has a strong relationship with Green Forest Primary School. In order to protect people’s living and the land, and the most important memory in her childhood as well, Sophie took responsibility for leading the school to win the competition. Owen joined her and battled with everyone. They just wanted to preserve everything, like all the inerasable feelings and memory in their heart, in this town. On the other hand, Brian asked Susan, a judge-in-chief of the competition, to give a fake score in order to win the game. This plan was heard by William’s mom and Owen. The pressure from Brian and the mom of the guy Susan loved went to Susan. Susan didn’t like Green Forest Primary School because that is the school where “Shan Lo” used to go. She was also afraid of losing William. She was hesitant of what to do.

Green Forest Primary School won the game. All things went more complicated while Susan was trying to protect her own love and happiness. Susan was going to get engaged with William. Sophie became the third person in the love relationship between William and Susan without being aware of it. Owen noticed Sophie’s feeling and, although he loved Sophie, could not let William keep taking Susan as Sophie. He went to tell William and Sophie the truth. Each of them was the person whom they had been looking for and waiting for. William realized that he made a big mistake. He followed the commitment he needed to follow and ignored the true feeling in his heart. He wanted to get Sophie back, but Sophie didn’t want to destroy the engagement of William and Susan, the wonderful memory William had with Susan, and the happiness of which Susan had dreamed. She decided to give up and missed the chance that she could stay with William again.

At a barbeque held by Green Forest Primary School, Sophie and William admitted to each other. Sophie was about to get happiness. The prince and princess were about to live happily forever. However, they didn’t know there were a lot of difficulties waiting for them. No matter how their future will be, William and Sophie always believe that they will see the green light of happiness as long as they believe!
